Welcome to the ONELOVE website,

In the small town of Ahero, Kisumu in Kenya with 11,000 inhabitants

There is a group of young male football players (6 to 20 years old) that have organize themselves with the support of Josephine Okumu, an Aids activist in The Netherlands, to communicate through SPORT the reality of AIDS in their small town.

All of them have lost one or both of their parents to AIDS.

Many of these young men do not have the opportunity to go to school.

They work to help sustain their families and in their free time, they play football.

They approached Josephine during the World Aids Marathon 2004 in Kenya and asked her for her support (since she is origin of Ahero).

In 2006 we registered as "OneLove Self Help Group" under the Ministry Of Social Services in Kenya.

Through this wonderful initiative, the group of players has grown to a

fully active football team and have even gone as far as joining the 2008 mini-league championships.

They practice in a small field bought for them by Josephine.

The chief and the community is proudly involved in the project.

Also the mothers have become more active, supporting the activity of their sons and trying to support each other.

These are women also struggling to survive with HIV.

The football team got uniforms donated to them by Sparta Rotterdam and this has triggered and motivated their goal towards sports.

In the ONELOVE project, Josephine tries to combine the young people with sport and AIDS awareness.

It is not so difficult to do when that is the reality of these young men's families.

ONELOVE gives the widows opportunity to do some income generating activities and become independent.

The proceeds from the Marathon, the Charity Run and from other sponsors, was meant for the building of a dressing room for the OneLove boys and girls.

But we decided to use this proceeds for building a Kindergarten which is really needed in this area, the accommodation will also be used as a dressing room for FC OneLove and as a community room for our OneLove Sisters.
